Mowing for Fun

So when I was a kid I used to really enjoy mowing the lawn...

What I really mean is I enjoyed driving way too fast on my grandfather's riding lawnmower. There was a great sense of accomplishment when you could be going really fast and whip a clean circle of fresh cut grass around a lawn obstacle.

So I made this prototype. Click on the movie to give it focus. Then use the right and left keys to give the "mower" a turn direction. Avoid of the red obstacles. You should be able to whip a circle around the circles if you time it right.

yeah i grew up in the midwest and could totally relate...the way i played it (in RL) was to try to cut every blade with the most efficient pattern...of course i ended up going onto the neighbors property a little (a margin to the game would be good, and that "bouncing" doesn't do anything for the concept IMHO). we had ditches on one side and if you went into the ditch you were fucked. it also doesn't have to be so fast...there was a real zen feeling out there with the slowness of the mower (even in 5th), the hugeness of the lawn, the long straights, and the sharp fast turns. trees are good!
